FAQs

What is the timeline for our work together?

Since this is a personalized process, during our intake meeting we will confirm a schedule that feels right. Having said that, my typical experience is four or six 50-minute meetings, including the ritual and a follow-up.  Our meetings take place every 3-4 weeks over 3-6 months.

How much does it cost to work with you?

I do not want money to be a barrier to our working together, so please contact me if you want to learn more about how I might help you through this transition and the related fees. Having said that, in general, I work on a sliding scale, which changes depending upon the number of sessions we schedule.

Do you officiate traditional lifecycle events?

Yes, I officiate at baby namings/brit (covenant) ceremonies, weddings, and funerals. My approach is the same in all my work: I believe every transition happens in a context. I help people prepare for a chapter of their life transition, not simply a moment in time. My goal is to get to know you so that when we stand together at your ceremony, you feel you have access to Jewish symbols and traditions that can help frame this experience. Also, it is important to me that we form a connection so that you feel a sense of ease as you mark this significant moment of transition.

For each lifecycle event, I provide an opportunity for a year-long process to work together, meeting monthly, quarterly, or based on dates that we know will be meaningful. Working together during this year provides us an opportunity to acknowledge the significant transitions that continue to unfold throughout a year following these traditional lifecycle moments.

This process sounds intense - is it right for me?

This is not the right process for everyone. I am a good fit for you if:

  • You  are willing and ready to explore what this life transition means to you or your community.

  • Your heart is open to grounding your experience in Jewish learning and tradition (Note: I honor the fact that every person connects to Judaism differently).

  • Your schedule is open enough to fit in time for our meetings and approximately one hour total in the weeks between our meetings for deep reflection and follow up assignments.

I’m a synagogue member, can I work with you?

My services are available to all individuals or groups, whether affiliated with a congregation or not. If you are connected to a congregation, during our intake meeting, I will inquire about whether or not your current clergy can help you with this transition, noting that helping congregants through life transitions is included in the cost of your temple membership. If you are looking for a more focused, personalized, and in-depth experience,  I’m happy to partner with you.  Please be assured that in any event, our work together would be held in strict rabbinic confidence.
